The South African independent hip-hop circuit is driven by raw resilience, and two rising stars have just encapsulated that exact hustle in a major way. Upcoming rappers Priince. (stylized intentionally with two “I”s and a full stop) and his close collaborator Vee York have officially dropped a powerful new single titled “Keep Going.”
Birthed during the creative sessions for their highly anticipated upcoming collaborative album, “Keep Going” is an unapologetic message to anyone feeling broken down by life’s unexpected disappointments. It serves as a sonic lifeline designed to uplift spirits and remind listeners that challenges aren’t signs to stop, but reasons to push harder.
A Tale of Two Verses: From Isolation to Absolute Dominance
The track’s narrative structure splits into two deeply personal perspectives, creating a beautiful balance between melodic vulnerability and pure trap aggression:
- Priince.’s Verse: Priince. kicks things off by digging into a vulnerable chapter of his life, rapping openly about the pain of being left out and abandoned by close friends. He explores the mental maturity he gained from that isolation, confidently declaring that the betrayal will never break him again. This leads seamlessly into a heavy, emotional hook where he recites the exact words of affirmation he uses to pull himself out of dark places.
- Vee York’s Verse: Vee York answers the call by shifting the energy into a quicker, relentless flow. He tackles physical and mental exhaustion, vowing to keep moving forward even when he feels like his own body is failing him. In a brilliant moment of track chemistry, Vee addresses Priince. directly, promising to help make those fake friends disappear. After reflecting on the boring, repetitive nature of the daily grind while waiting for his time to shine, Vee closes his verse with a fierce warning to his enemies: trying to stop him will only make him prosper.
