After teasing us with two debut singles in 2022, the talented trio of Dee Xclsv , Ofentic & Huge Da Oracle unveils their much anticipated debut offering, 9. Vol. 1
The Rustenburg trio first linked up in 2022 and gave us a taste of what they could do when they came together , with “Shut It Down” and their sophomore single “Deny” , which was received extremely well.
“9 is derived from the company name The Whole Nine, which is the entertainment hub that we have been pushing over the past year. We wanted to come together and do something that’s never been done before in Rustenburg before, in terms of creating a high end , chic entertainment hub that can act as an appropriate depiction of Rustenburg entertainment ” say the boys.
“9” does have a hip hop centric sound , with the opening song “The Whole Nine” starting the project off with honest raps and a soothing , melodic hook. But as you delve deeper into the EP, you start to realise how diverse the project is , with songs like “Sa Nkgopotsa” and “Soft” giving you a nostalgic Kwaito sound , but without sacrificing the raps and brought together by more melodic hooks.
The boys definitely came through on this project, with solid raps, catchy hooks and a deliberate message being delivered on every single song. If this EP is anything to go by , then The Whole Nine is definitely here to stay.
