Signed under an Indie pendent label titled Grindsmart Records is Katero Gambino, also known as Thabo Richard Mphakathi.The rapper is hailing all the way from the streets of Rustenburg, in the village of Mabeskraal 60 kilometres away from the city (Northwest, South Africa).He is the founder of Grindsmart Record.
Katero started recording music around 2005 under the hiphop movement titled Bossflowcartel. He was featured in 7 mixtapes under the movement Bossflowcartel namely: Raw from the mind[2005],Talk is cheap[2007],David the menace by Kingdavvid[2006],Hustlers Radio volume01 and 02[2009],Hostile Invasion[2010],He has also released three solo mixtapes namely: Villagepride Volume01[2006],Onceuponthevillage volume02[2010] and Boss[EP][2014] with PounceRoyalcash under Royalcashmusic. He was featured in Gerezanonstop mixtape under Royalcashmusic in 2018.
Katero managed to mingle with Tv personalities like Bongani Masondo as Smangaliso[Skeem Saam],Eric Cheru as Leeto[Skeem Saam],Presley Chweneagae as Tsotsi[Movie Tsotsi],Kgomotso Dichwene from the drama Zone 14,the late Thabiso Ngwane as Thiza[Yizoyizo],He also performed alongside the likes Emtee the hustla,Tuks Senganga,JahSeed from Bongo Maffin,the late HHP,Drencko,Don Royal[Dancehall] and other club Djs like Dj Nyati, Dj Tira,DJ Spara[Mafisa fm],Spicey Steve[Mafisa fm/Actor at Scandal].
Katero Gambino has a two single out on promotion:” Been a long time and Sistas in the Ville. He is working on the mixtape that will be dropping early this year titled Dropping Heaven [Grindsmart Collection].The mixtape features other local artist like Tro Mashala, Dj Junior Sax, Lefika Dakar. The mixtape will consists of 13 Tracks.
