Rapper Tyler Linkman flows into summer ’23 with his new hit “Nowhere”

South African rapper and songwriter Tyler Linkman returns with a brand new easy-flow addition to the airwaves – Nowhere.

A sexy, jazz and funk-backed track reminiscent of hot pavements, balmy nights and electric moments between lovers, Nowhere brings a different spin to Tyler Linkman’s usual repertoire, using live instruments such as jazz guitar and saxophone to support his silky vocal offering. The perfect song to wind down the week or light a fire under the night, Nowhere is a clear indication of the organic artistic maturity taking place as Tyler grows up and looks inward to inspiration.

Since his signing with the Universal Music Group local pop division 2 years ago, Tyler has dropped hit singles such as Over Me and Levitate, as well as his first EP Garden Flavours. Having played with some heavy-weight names in the industry in his short time as a working performer, he has always been a fan of a smooth flow with a slightly downtempo danceability, despite being as comfortable with hard-spitting rhymes or mumble rap. One thing is always consistent with Tyler though, and that is his love for a chilled beat that hits the listener just right in the soul.

Nowhere is testament to his love of being in the now, and lyrically speaks to the fast-paced life that won’t change unless we take a few moments to look around and be present. In this case, he refers to spending time with the person you love and letting all the drama of life slow down for a moment.

Being the first track Tyler has creatively directed, he is particularly proud of Nowhere. Using live jazz instruments adds an authenticity to his lyrics which he stated, “just poured out of me”. Combined with a deep bassline groove and a distinctive summer vibe, the track also uses a sample from the 1981 funk track Nights Over Egypt by The Jones Girls, which puts the cherry on top of this inspired, effortless bop.
